Presentation

Microcurrents: where do cosmetic effects end and physiological effects begin?

The rise of microcurrent technologies—galvanic current, devices responsive to the skin’s electric field, and targeted micro-stimulation—is profoundly reshaping beauty care. These approaches promise visible improvements in skin quality, but they raise a central question: which claims and wording cause the stated action to go beyond the cosmetic realm and enter the domain of physiological effects?

This presentation will provide a clear overview of the regulatory boundaries surrounding these technologies, the criteria used to assess whether there is a genuine biological impact, and the implications for product classification. It will also address the challenges of compiling the PIF (Product Information File) and the CPSR (Cosmetic Product Safety Report) when dealing with mechanisms that remain only loosely regulated.

An essential session to anticipate reclassification risks and safeguard innovation.
