Director of Foresight, Responsible Intelligence and Strategy - The Calling

Sans titre.jpg

A PhD candidate in contemporary anthropology focusing on youth imaginaries, Coralie BERGDOLL brings over 20 years of expertise in foresight and strategy for major beauty companies.

Working on topics such as the future of hydration, beauty, wellness, and longevity by 2050, as well as the reconciliation of the feminine and its many expressions in the beauty world of tomorrow, she has consistently supported and developed narratives that push the industry toward greater responsibility in preserving—or rethinking—the habitability of our world.

In this spirit, she continues to examine the underlying dynamics of the present in order to imagine a “de-traumatized” future, where the possibility of a shared world remains intact.

She will speak on the imaginaries of electricity—why now, its symbols, its resonances, and its future impacts on the world of beauty.

Electricity: From a Universal Force to a Catalyst for Innovation in Cosmetics

Invisible, elusive, yet omnipresent, electricity has spanned the ages as a fundamental force linking the realms of the divine and the scientific, the symbolic and the technological. From the earliest intuitions of Thales of Miletus to the visionary experiments of Nikola Tesla, it embodies a universal energy that fascinates, transforms, and shapes our understanding of life. Long associated with lightning and celestial powers—wielded by Zeus or attributed to deities such as Thor or Shango—electricity is embedded in a collective imagination where it symbolizes life, regeneration, and metamorphosis. This ancestral dimension resonates today with renewed intensity in a world seeking meaning, efficiency, and reconnection between nature, science, and technology.

At a time when beauty and cosmetics are entering an era of deep hybridization with the life sciences and advanced technologies, electricity is emerging as a strategic lever in research and development. Microcurrents, electrostimulation, electroporation, and intelligent devices are redefining how we interact with the skin, opening the way to more targeted, measurable, and personalized treatments. This talk proposes to explore electricity as a transversal thread, linking its symbolic history to its most contemporary and future applications, in order to better anticipate its role in the cosmetics of tomorrow. It thus examines an ongoing transformation: from static beauty to dynamic beauty, enhanced by controlled energy flows.

At the intersection of cultural heritage, scientific advances, and foresight, electricity appears as far more than a resource—it becomes a universal language of innovation, at the heart of the new frontiers of beauty R&D.
